Sustainability: quo vadis in a multipolar world?

Bild a multipolar world SizeRed

We are in the middle of a transition to a multipolar world. A shift that did not start yesterday, but its implications have become impossible to ignore. Power, resources, regulation, and expectations are more distributed. Coordination is more complex. Assumptions that once simplified decision-making no longer apply.

In this context, sustainability does not become less relevant. It becomes more judgement-intensive, more strategic, and more consequential.

What does that mean in practice?

It means that sustainabiltiy is less about aligning with a dominant framework or optimising against relatively stable rules. Instead, organisations increasingly have to navigate divergence. This overview summarizes my key thoughts and forms a point of view on what role sustainability can play in a multipolar world.

Will be sharing more in-depth views over the next weeks and look forward to exchanging perspectives.
