K 2025 Shaping the Future of Plastics & Rubber Responsibly

1760348112927

At K 2025, the global plastics and rubber industry once again set the stage for innovation, material efficiency, and transformation — with sustainability as both a driver and a challenge. The sector plays a critical role in the transition toward a low-carbon and circular economy, from raw material production to recycling and reuse.

We were there to meet our partners and to bring Life Cycle Thinking, Carbon and Waste Management to the center of the conversation.
Circular design, alternative materials, CCU and smart end-of-life strategies are more than sustainability levers, they are key factors for competitiveness and resilience. With transparent metrics being essential for credible decarbonization and innovation strategies.

Here are our 3 reflections from K 2025:

1️⃣ Sustainability is gaining depth
Across the K, sustainability was omnipresent: in materials, processes, and narratives. We saw interesting and tangible solutions, from advanced recycling to carbon capture and utilization and alternative feedstocks. The key will be translating these approaches into measurable and comparable impact.

2️⃣ Digitalization as an enabler
AI, digital twins, and traceability tools are key enablers of transparency and resource efficiency. When combined with solid data, they can turn innovation into real environmental and economic value.

3️⃣ Collaboration shapes the future
The move from linear to circular models requires shared responsibility across the value chain. We saw inspiring examples of companies shifting from competition to collaboration, an encouraging sign for systemic change.

🌍 At e-hoch-3 | eco impact experts, we believe that the plastics industry holds great potential for transformation and we’re glad to see our partners taking tangible steps in that direction.
